What have you learned?

[ I have learned that the McCarren Park Pool was opened in 1936 during a monumental summer of public projects in New York. It was the middle of The Great Depression, and the Works Progress Administration opened a series of ten pools throughout the city. They were designed to provide recreation, generate employment, and get people's minds off the economy. The Pool was closed in 1984. Curently, the pool is been used as an outdoors performance space which bringing the community together. The future of the McCarren Park Pool looks promising since Mayor Bloomberg is trying to cut and paste together a plan to bring the 2012 Games to New York City. Look no further than Greenpoint. This is not just your run of the mill Olympic pool. This is three times the size of an Olympic pool ]
